Excellence in HVAC recruitment and consultancy for Johnson Controls
Johnson Controls has been in business for nearly 140 years. The company has a history of innovation and is now a world leader in delivering smart, safe and sustainable buildings and spaces across industries including healthcare, schools, data centres, airports, stadiums, hotels, manufacturing and more.
Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, Johnson Controls employs a team of more than 100,000 experts and has a presence in more than 150 countries, across six continents. This includes London, UK where the company delivers building technologies and solutions across industries.
During one such project in 2022 the company’s internal recruitment team encountered challenges in HVAC recruitment for a building and office refit for a pharmaceutical client.
Enter the team at Vincent Gurney.
Dedicated HVAC recruitment
The Vincent Gurney team was recommended to Johnson Controls by a long-standing client that had been acquired by the company. Following an onboarding process, we were added to their preferred suppliers list and began to help Johnson Controls overcome its staffing challenges for HVAC jobs. As a specialist recruiter for the HVAC industry, we used our skills to demonstrate the same value to Johnson Controls.
The challenge: as the scale of the project grew, the Johnson Controls team needed more bodies on site but were having difficulty in filling the roles. We have a proven track-record in recruiting a range of HVAC jobs, including HVAC engineers and HVAC project managers, so we were able to find, recruit and place a small team of ventilation fitters and air conditioning engineers to ensure the project stayed on track.
Consultancy, communication and efficiency
As a preferred supplier for HVAC recruitment for Johnson Controls, Vincent Gurney was also brought on board to source HVAC engineers for an office fitout project in Portsmouth. In addition to sourcing the temporary labour needed for the project, we offered valuable consultancy to the Johnson Controls team regarding the roles and skills needed.
The project called for a team to lay cable trays across the site and instead of recruiting engineers as initially briefed, we advised recruiting electrical installers instead, as in our experience they have more relevant experience for this job. This ultimately saved the company both time and money, we filled 17 HVAC jobs for them quickly and efficiently.
Quote from Vincent Gurney:
“Recruitment isn’t just about filling roles. Whether it’s MEP recruitment or HVAC recruitment, for me and the Vincent Gurney team, it’s about using the skills and knowledge we acquire from working across specialised industries to offer our clients consultancy as well. Our aim is to get the best fit for our clients in terms of their requirements and making sure we do that as transparently, consistently and efficiently as possible.”
